Get more EV charging station info from Google Maps
Electric vehicles that come with Google Maps built-in will allow you to plan your trips better as Google improves the information it provides.
The company released new routing algorithms that use graph theory to supply you with routes and charging stop recommendations. When you enter a destination that needs two or more recharge stops, Maps can search and filter through the thousands of public stations to find you an efficient route. It will also show you how long each charge will take and your total trip time.
According to Google, it'll only take the app less than 10 seconds to calculate everything.
If you're going on a shorter trip, you can browse through a list of charging stations shown on Google Maps. It can display which charging stations are the fastest. You can even cull the list to show those stations where you're a member. It's also possible to see charging stations close to grocery stores or coffee shops, so you can run errands or take a break while you wait for your car to recharge.
Google Maps can also show you what payment methods are accepted at the different stations across Canada.
EVs like the Polestar 2 and Volvo XC40 Recharge will get these features, with other car models receiving the update in the future.
