Wednesday Addams is getting her own Netflix show

Source: Netflix

Addams Family fans might be delighted to hear that we're revisiting this kooky and spooky family through the lens of their teenage daughter, Wednesday. Tim Burton, known for working on gothic horror and dark comedy films, will be directing the eight-episode show, simply called Wednesday.

Netflix claims it's the director's TV directorial debut, but a Twitter user (@vinegarworks) pointed out that he directed an episode of Faerie Tale Theatre back in 1986. Burton will be joined by Smallville's Alfred Gough and Miles Millar as showrunners and executive producers.

The first season of Wednesday will follow Wednesday Addams as she goes off to attend the "peculiar" Nevermore Academy. The show will focus on her relationships in school, her psychic abilities, and mysteries that involve murder in the local town and her parents' supernatural pasts.

This show isn't connected to any previous adaptations of this comedic horror franchise. But we hope it pays tribute to its history, nonetheless.
