The Infinix Concept Phone 2021 intros 160W fast charging, colour-changing design

Here's another China-owned smartphone maker that's looking to break records with its technology. Infinix shows off what it has in the pipeline with the Infinix Concept Phone 2021. It features a bespoke 160W system that can charge its 4,000mAh battery from 0% to 100% in just 10 minutes. Another unique feature of this concept device is the colour-changing technology integrated into the rear panel.

Infinix combines Ultra Flash Charge (UFC) technology, the Innovative Super Charge Pump, 60 security protection mechanisms, and an 8C battery cell to make the extremely fast-charging tech possible.

The Innovative Super Charge pump is built with four high conversion charging chips for high power conversion. It allows the device to reach 98.6% charging conversion efficiency while preventing the phone from overheating and overloading. There are 20 temperature sensors and intelligent control algorithms that make sure the phone's temperature stays under 40 degrees Celsius while charging. The 8C battery cell is designed to reduce over 18% of internal resistance compared to a 6C battery. This battery cell is said to produce less heat.

The charger is built with Gallium Nitrate and Silicon Carbide semiconductors to keep it somewhat compact and highly efficient. It also supports multiple protocols, so it can even charge laptops. This concept phone also gets 50W fast wireless charging, which we've already seen on the market.

Aside from ridiculously fast charging tech, Infinix introduces colour-changing technology based on electrochromic and electroluminescent tech on the back of the phone. The inside of the "O" in the "Now" stencil at the back is like a breathing light that pulses when it charges. The back panel can also change from silver to light blue if a notification comes in. (Now is part of the brand's motto, "The future is now.")

On top of that, the 6.67-inch AMOLED display has a 1080p+ resolution with extreme 88-degree curvature at the sides. There's also a 135mm periscope lens that should have 10x magnification and capable of 60x magnification digitally. Behind that is an 8-megapixel sensor. It also has a 64-megapixel primary lens and a 120-degree ultra-wide-angle camera. In front, there's a 32-megapixel selfie shooter.

It runs on a 64-bit octa-core processor with two performance core ARM Cortex-A76 and six power-efficient core Cortex-A55 CPUs clocked at 2.05GHz and 2GHz, respectively, one of the fastest GPUs, the ARM Mali-G76 MP4, 128GB of storage, 8GB RAM, and Android 11.
