LG adds Dolby Atmos, wireless TV connections to 2023 soundbars

Source: LG SC9

Ahead of its CES 2023 appearance, LG also has its new 2023 soundbar lineup coming to the show. The new SC9 and SE6 models both come with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive sound. These soundbars will have a feature called Wow Orchestra. This tool "utilizes every one of the two products’ audio channels to create an expanded soundstage with improved height, depth and power." It's unclear how this translates to real-life use, but it will arrive via a software update post-launch. The two soundbars will also come with Wowcast to make it wirelessly connect to LG TVs over Wi-Fi.

The SC9 and SE6 are also equipped with a Triple Sound Optimizer feature that "boosts" performance and a Smart Up-mixer that turns stereo audio into multi-channel surround sound. These soundbars also get LG's AI Room Calibration tool so the sound is tailored to the room these speakers are in, ensuring better balance, clearer vocals, and improved dialogue. With AI Sound Pro, the SC9 and SE6 can also analyze the type of content that's on and adjusts the settings accordingly.

Don't expect these soundbars to stick out, as LG promises a more minimalist design. LG hasn't elaborated on the difference between the two soundbars, but the SE6 is the one "ideal for smaller spaces." We should learn more about these during CES 2023 happening next week.
