Dbrand launches 'Something' skins that make it look like you have a Nothing phone (1)

Source: Dbrand

We might not have access to the Nothing phone (1) on this side of the world, but you can get your current device to look like it. Accessory maker Dbrand released a new "Something" line of skins that promise to turn your Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max, Google Pixel 6 Pro, or Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra into a Nothing phone (1) lookalike.

This marketing stunt isn't new for Dbrand, and it outright acknowledges that they could be getting in trouble here. "Some might accuse us of theft. Here's our counter: we stole nothing," the company says on its website. "That's not theft - it's plagiarism, which is definitely not a crime. We checked," Dbrand added after noting it spent "a lot of time" taking apart electronics, an investment the company says makes it "uniquely qualified to rip off an industrial design and 'creatively reinterpret' it for other devices."

Engadget pointed out that it wouldn't be surprising if Nothing founder Carl Pei were involved with this stunt. He is widely credited for the guerilla marketing strategy that made OnePlus what it is today. It retails for US$24.95 (around CA$33) if you want one.
