OnePlus 11 gets Android 14 update
OnePlus has started rolling out Android 14 to its flagship OnePlus 11 phone. The update is coming to India first, its biggest market. But we should expect it to arrive in other markets soon after. Phone makers like to roll out new Android updates slowly. And for now, this "stable" release is opt-in via the beta program.
When it comes to the interface, you might not notice a big change. OnePlus OS is pretty heavy these days, so even the customizable lock screen won't be viewable. What the update would bring includes performance improvements, a block for potentially malicious old app updates, and a couple of permission changes. Ars Technica noted it's a relatively small update, so it's surprising the rollout is starting early.
The site did point out that the operating system update initially shipped out with a crippling bug that locked out some users out of their phones and caused them to lose data. It looks like that has been resolved already since Samsung has shipped Android 14 and there haven't been any reported issues. But if you decide to wait a bit before you update, we won't blame you.
