Huawei FreeClip: The earring-like earbuds that clip onto your ears
Huawei has a reputation for unconventional product designs. And its latest creation, the Huawei FreeClip, might be its most eccentric yet. The FreeClip earbuds look like earrings or piercings, thanks to a C-bridge design that clips onto the back of your ears. This is a departure from the usual hooks that go over the ear (think the PowerBeats Pro). Huawei claims this design is based on “10,000+ global human ear data” (sic) and allows you to wear these buds in either ear.
They also have an IP54 rating, so they can resist sweat and be taken on workouts outdoors. The open-ear structure is meant to make it easier to stay alert towards your surroundings.
The Huawei FreeClip earbuds also boast features such as AI clear calling tech, L2HC codec support (for Huawei devices only), gesture controls, and dual-point connections. The FreeClip buds offer up to eight hours of battery life or 36 hours with the charging case. Huawei also promises three hours of playback from a 10-minute charge.
The Huawei FreeClip costs €199 (around CA$290). It's unclear if these earbuds will make their way here, but we're hoping they will.
