LinkedIn tests AI-generated copy for posts

LinkedIn is testing a new feature that will let users create posts with the help of generative artificial intelligence. The feature, which is currently available to a limited group of users, aims to make posting on LinkedIn easier and faster.

LinkedIn is a popular platform for professionals to network and showcase their achievements. Many users share career updates, such as promotions, awards, or new projects. These posts can help users build their brand and attract new opportunities. LinkedIn is experimenting with this new feature to assist users in creating posts.

The feature was announced by Keren Baruch, director of product at LinkedIn, in a post on the platform. She explained that users can use generative AI directly within the LinkedIn share box. You must provide at least 30 words of input to describe what you want to say. Then, the AI will generate a first draft you can review and edit before posting. She said the feature is still in testing and will be rolled out more widely soon.

However, not everyone is excited about the feature. Some users have expressed concerns that it will reduce the authenticity and originality of LinkedIn posts. They argue that using AI-generated copy will make posts sound generic and robotic. They also worry that instead of having genuine human interactions on the platform, users will end up talking to chatbots.

LinkedIn has not responded to these criticisms yet. It remains to be seen how the feature will impact the quality and diversity of content on LinkedIn.
