Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 dummy shows changes to its foldable design

A new video reveals the design of the Galaxy Z Flip5, Samsung's upcoming clamshell smartphone. Leakspinner posted the video showing the phone in black and white colours, but they look like temporary covers for the phone. The video also gives us a glimpse of how the phone looks when folded shut. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is expected to have a new hinge mechanism that reduces the gap between the two halves of the screen when folded. However, the dummy in the video still shows a noticeable gap.

At least, the new hinge should improve the dust resistance of the phone, which is rumoured to have an IP58 rating. This means that some dust may enter the phone, but it won't affect its performance. Previous Z models only had water resistance (IPX8).

The Z Flip5 doesn't seem to have major changes on the outside, except for the larger cover display. It has a volume button and a power button/fingerprint reader on the right side, a SIM card slot on the left side, and a USB-C port on the bottom. The phone may also support DeX, Samsung's desktop mode, but it could be wireless only.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 will be announced on July 26. The Unpacked event should also include Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Tab S9 launches.
