The new AirPods Pro: USB-C charging, better sound, and wireless audio with Apple Vision Pro
We haven't been able to write about it yet, but Apple also unveiled the new AirPods Pro (2nd-generation). This variant gets USB-C charging, which you can charge via the iPhone. It'll also just use any other USB-C cable you may have for your iPad or Mac. This 2nd-gen AirPods Pro also promises even better sound quality, noise cancellation, transparency, and spatial audio.
The earbuds and the MagSafe charging case for these new AirPods Pros have improved IP54 rating for dust resistance, making them ideal for outdoor adventures. The new AirPods Pro also support Lossless Audio with ultra-low latency when paired with Apple Vision Pro. The H2 chip in the earbuds and Apple Vision Pro uses a wireless audio protocol to deliver 20-bit, 48kHz Lossless Audio with minimal audio lag.
With iOS 17, users can enjoy new audio features like Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, and Personalized Volume. Adaptive Audio automatically adjusts the noise control between Transparency and Active Noise Cancellation based on your environment. Meanwhile, Conversation Awareness lowers the content volume and enhances the voices in front of you when you start talking to someone nearby. It also reduces background noise for clearer conversations. And Personalized Volume learns from your volume preferences and environmental conditions to fine-tune the listening experience over time.
The new AirPods Pro are made with recycled materials and are free of harmful substances. The packaging is also eco-friendly and uses fibre-based materials. The new AirPods Pro are part of Apple's commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability.
The new AirPods Pro will be in stores from Friday, September 22 for CA$329.
