Fitbit is taking a significant step forward in personalized sleep tracking with its new experimental feature, Sleep Labs. Designed to provide you with a deeper understanding of your sleep patterns, Sleep Labs offers a comprehensive analysis of sleep data, combined with user-provided insights.

To access Sleep Labs, you must opt into the "Sleep Insights and Tips" feature. Once enabled, you are prompted to complete a brief daily sleep journal. This journal asks a series of multiple-choice questions about factors like sleep quality, disturbances, and lifestyle habits. Additionally, users can provide open-ended comments to further enrich the data.

Fitbit's artificial intelligence-powered system then analyzes the collected sleep data and journal entries to generate personalized insights. These insights are presented in daily summaries that highlight key trends, potential causes of sleep disturbances, and tailored recommendations. For users who consistently complete the daily journal, Fitbit also provides weekly recaps that summarize sleep patterns and offer specific tips for improvement.
