8 Canadian standout students selected for prestigious Regeneron ISEF 2024

Youth Science Canada has announced the names of eight exceptional high school students chosen to represent Canada at the 2024 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Happening from May 11-17 in Los Angeles, ISEF is the world's premier competition for youth STEM projects.

Team Canada-ISEF 2024 members impressed with projects demonstrating originality, scientific rigor, and potential impact. These young minds will compete against 1,600 students from over 80 countries, showcasing their innovative research on a global stage. ISEF offers a one-of-a-kind platform for these aspiring scientists and engineers to vie for nearly $9 million in awards, prizes, and scholarships that could fuel their future endeavours.

• Gurnoor Kaur – Waterloo, Ontario: MalaScope – A Low-Cost Deep Learning Sensor for Label-Free Detection of Malaria
• Arushi Nath – Toronto, Ontario: Developing Algorithms to Determine Asteroid’s Physical Properties using Sparse and Dense Photometry, Robotic Telescopes, Open Data and Math
• Jason Zhao – Vancouver, British Columbia: Low Cost Rapid Response Rocket launched UAV for Wildfire Hotspot Detection
