Threads experiments with self-destructing posts
Threads is thinking of pulling an Instagram by experimenting with a new feature that allows users to set a 24-hour expiration timer on their posts. Once the timer runs out, the post and all its replies will disappear, similar to what you do with Instagram Stories. This is also reminiscent of pre-X Twitter's short-lived Fleets feature, but it could be a useful option for users who frequently delete their posts.
Just a few months ago, Threads introduced an optional auto-archiving feature that would automatically hide posts after a specified date. However, user feedback suggests that this feature isn't particularly popular, and it hasn't been widely implemented yet.
Threads continues to grow, reporting over 200 million users at the start of August. It continues to add new features like the recent introduction of analytics tools, and exploring the addition of post-scheduling to enhance the user experience.
