PS5 port of 'Palworld' on hold in Japan

Image: Pocketpair

Sony has already launched the PlayStation 5 port of Palworld in 68 countries and regions worldwide. Japan isn't one of those countries, though. According to machine translation, the official Japanese account for the game said on X that the Japanese release "has not yet been decided." They didn't elaborate on the reason.

However, the most likely reason is the patent infringement lawsuit Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed against Palworld developer Pocketpair last week. The most recent statement from Pocketpair came out on the 19th, acknowledging the lawsuit. But the company claims it is unaware of the patents it infringed, and its rep said they haven't been notified about the details yet.

'Ghost of Tshushima' sequel to come to PS5 in 2025

Ghost of Yōtei, a sequel to the 2020 PlayStation hit Ghost of Tsushima, will be coming to the Sony PlayStation 5 in 2025. This sequel features a new protagonist, era, and landscape. It stars Atsu, a new Ghos, who journeys through the lands at the base of Mount Yōtei in Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido) in 1603. It is set 300 years after the events of Tsushima, which focused on the Mongol invasion of the region.

You get to see the environment in the trailer and a hint of cowboy twang in the music used in it. Sucker Punch noted in a blog post that Yōtei isn't home to organized samurai clans like those in Tsushima. And that became the basis of the sequel's new story. They haven't shared a specific release date yet.

It looks like another movie has joined the list of productions that have used Apple iPhones for filming. Wired reports that Danny Boyle used iPhone 15 Pro Max to film 28 Years Later, the next film in the 28 Days Later franchise. With a US$75 million budget, it has become the biggest movie to date filmed with smartphones.

Staff were supposedly asked to sign non-disclosure agreements that prevented them from disclosing that smartphones were used to shoot the movie. But a paparazzi photo surfaced online that hinted at the unusual filming setup.
