Netflix update brings 3D Touch and iPad Pro optimization for iOS

Finally, Netflix has updated its app on iOS to bring some requested features, including iPad Pro optimization and a new layout for iPad Pro users. Aside from that, iPhone users now get auto-play and recommendations. There’s also now 3D Touch support and Arabic has been added to languages that the platform supports. The “Kids” experience also gets an improved layout. And there’s also the usual performance improvements. Unfortunately, picture-in-picture still isn’t available and we hope Netflix listens and finally brings support for that.

How has Netflix impacted our modern day romance?

By Sonya Davidson

Did you hear about that Airbnb apartment that's Netflix themed? Funny but...Anyway....

We've all snicker when our friends say that they plan to "Netflix and Chill" -- you know what that means, right? Well, as far as my parent friends are concerned they really are simply wanting to stuff their faces with popcorn and get comfortable in their softest flannel pajamas.

New Netflix documentary series ‘Cooked’ explores our connection with home cooking

Food guru and author Michael Pollan takes us into the world of home cooking with his new Netflix documentary series coming out on February 19. Called Cooked, the series will explore the origins of home-cooked meals, its preparation, and how these are connected to traditions, feelings, and memories.

According to the description of its trailer video on YouTube: “Explored through the lenses of the four natural elements – fire, water, air and earth – COOKED is an enlightening and compelling look at the evolution of what food means to us through the history of food preparation and its universal ability to connect us. Highlighting our primal human need to cook, the series urges a return to the kitchen to reclaim our lost traditions and to forge a deeper, more meaningful connection to the ingredients and cooking techniques that we use to nourish ourselves.”

Netflix to crack down on VPN users

Netflix will not be taking kindly to VPN users now. After launching in over 190 countries, Netflix plans to take a more proactive approach in blocking VPN users who spoof their location to get access to content not licensed  in their country.

The company is said to be using "evolving" proxy detectors, which are reported similar to what other firms do. Those who don't use proxies should not see any difference with how they use the service. They don't take issue with account sharing, though. What they are discouraging is VPN use. Netflix has promised they're working on bringing their entire content library to everyone. But with the Netflix Everywhere launch, that might take some time.
