Google admits Pixel Watch has a faulty adhesive issue

Photos: 9to5Google

Some Pixel Watch owners have reported that the back panel of their smartwatch falls off unexpectedly. This seems to be caused by a faulty adhesive that fails to keep the panel attached, especially when the watch is charged on a magnetic dock. The issue is not very common, and Google has offered to replace the affected watches under warranty.

However, this is not the first time a Wear OS watch has had a similar problem. Fossil's Gen 4 and Gen 5 hardware also faced issues with their charging rings and back panels. Some Apple watch owners have also encountered this issue. Google says it is working to identify and fix the cause of the problem and hopes to avoid it in the future Pixel Watch models.

Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, will soon start testing a feature that will prevent some Canadians from viewing or sharing news content on those platforms. The federal government said the bill aims to create a fairer relationship between news outlets and digital platforms that dominate the online advertising market.

Surface Pro X users are reporting camera issues

Many Surface Pro X users have reported camera issues this week. The cameras don’t seem to work on Microsoft’s Arm-powered tablet and reinstalling drivers don’t seem to help. The Verge reports getting the error code “0xA00F4271<MediaCaptureFailedEvent> (0x80004005)” when they tried to use the camera app.

A possible cause is an expired security certificate in Windows. Some Surface Pro X owners found a temporary fix. You can change the system date to May 22 to get the camera working again. But this could cause authentication issues for other websites and services. Microsoft has not fixed the problem yet.
