Google admits Pixel Watch has a faulty adhesive issue

Some Pixel Watch owners have reported that the back panel of their smartwatch falls off unexpectedly. This seems to be caused by a faulty adhesive that fails to keep the panel attached, especially when the watch is charged on a magnetic dock. The issue is not very common, and Google has offered to replace the affected watches under warranty. 

However, this is not the first time a Wear OS watch has had a similar problem. Fossil's Gen 4 and Gen 5 hardware also faced issues with their charging rings and back panels. Some Apple watch owners have also encountered this issue. Google says it is working to identify and fix the cause of the problem and hopes to avoid it in the future Pixel Watch models.

Google Pixel Watch is up for pre-order, pricing starts at CA$450

Google has officially taken the wraps off the Pixel Watch, its first entry in the smartwatch space. The company has already made the device available for pre-order. The Bluetooth/Wi-Fi option costs $450, while the 4G LTE option retails for $530. 

As previewed earlier this year, the Pixel Watch sported a domed, circular glass design with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 5 paired with a stainless steel housing. The watch is water-resistant up to 5 ATM, allowing it to withstand pressure equal to a depth of 50 metres. This watch features an always-on display, allowing you to see the time even when you're not interacting with it. But that should impact battery life, which is expected to last up to 24 hours on a single charge.

Pixel Watch sports a rather fat bezel

Rumours have been going around that the Pixel Watch is getting a rather thick bezel, and this leaked image gives us the closest look at it. It looks like the bezel takes up almost 10mm of its rumoured 41mm diameter. And while Wear OS 3 seems to be doing a good job at obscuring the black ring, some menus—like those in the leaked image—makes it rather obvious.

The Pixel Watch is expected to get an "improved" version of Wear OS 3, with support for native apps like Google Maps, Google Wallet, Google Assistant, and Google Home. The smartwatch is also expected to get Fitbit integration. The Pixel Watch will launch alongside the Pixel 7 tomorrow at 10 AM ET.

New Google Pixel Watch leak shows retail box

The new Google Pixel Watch is a week away from its debut, and the leaks have been steadily coming in. One of the latest ones shows the retail box of the upcoming watch. Instead of going the long and narrow route, Google is opting for a small rectangular box.

It features the multicolour G logo, the Google Pixel Watch name, and a bit of the case and band in an angled shot of the device. We're assuming the cover will show the case and band colour of the option you choose. The bottom right corner of the box has the words "with Fitbit," reminding users of the company's acquisition of the fitness tech company. If the retail box is showing up this early, we're assuming the smartwatch has made its way to retailers and should hit shelves soon after its reveal on October 6.
