Sony introduces the Xperia T3, ‘world’s slimmest’ 5.3-inch smartphone

While it is a rather specific category, Sony touts its newest Xperia T3 as the “world’s slimmest 5.3-inch smartphone. Aside from being slim though, the device is said to be made durable thanks to steel frame and matte back cover. This device has a high-resolution HD TriLuminos IPS display, 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 4G connectivity, and a 2500mAh battery. The T3 has an 8-megapixel shooter integrated with Cyber-shot features and HDR for videos.

The T3 will be available globally in July and will come in black, white, and purple. Sony did not say how much the device will cost though.

Sony releases the RX100 III making the best point-and-shoot camera even better

The newly released  RX100 III (comes in June for $900) improves on the capabilities of Sony's prosumer compact point and shoot camera by adding a built-in retractable OLED viewfinder, a flip-up LCD screen for selfie-fixated folks, and is the is the first Cyber-shot model to offer high-resolution HD video recording in the XAVC S format, which allows for full HD recording at a data rate of 50 mbps with lower compression for improved video quality.

I've been using the RX100 II as my go-to camera for work as well as personal use and it just can't be beat in terms of portability,  photo and video quality, quick wireless image sending to mobile devices online services and general ease of use.

A viewfinder is the one feature I desired most, but found too expensive to invest in. The newest model retains the same  it jump for the lowdown on all the features.

Review: Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet

Sony’s latest Android tablet is a worthy successor to the Xperia Z, with unique features, an incredibly thin and light design and a gorgeous screen. But battery life is not as good as it could be.

Text and photos by Simon Cohen

The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet ($529 16GB) is a remarkably thin and light device. At 426 grams, the Z2 is significantly lighter than the comparably equipped Apple iPad Air (469 grams) even though it has larger overall dimensions.

The chassis exterior is coated in a rubberized finish on the back and uses edge-to-edge scratch-resistant glass on the front. The sides (what little there is of them) is finished in a metal-look plastic material. Unlike the iPad, there is no metal shell.

Although this results in an amazingly light device, the problem with this design is that the Xperia Z2 gets all of its rigidity from the internal framework and the glass screen itself. Which it to say, you can actually flex the tablet without exerting much pressure at all. I suppose this isn’t necessarily an issue of quality – I wasn’t able to come even close to damaging it through normal use—but it doesn’t give you a tremendous feeling of confidence.
