Apple confirms September 12 iPhone event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Apple has confirmed it is going to host a September 12 iPhone event in its newly built Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino.

Some media invitations went out today to what many consider to be the Super Bowl of tech launches, the annual iPhone September event. This year is special because it marks the 10th year anniversary of the Apple iPhone, which has superseded the iPod and the Mac as Apple's biggest and most profitable product.

This is also the first time the company will unveil the Steve Jobs Theatre in its newly-built Apple Park Campus, considered by many to be Steve Jobs legacy to the company he founded, and later on rescued from insolvency in what was one of the greatest second acts in modern business history.

September 12 tipped as date for Apple's iPhone event

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

September 12th is now expected to be the day for Apple's big iPhone announcement this year accroding to a report from CNBC. Apple usually earmarks a Tuesday in the second week of September to reveal its latest iPhone, the latest iOS 11 features and, most likley, updates to various accessories like the Apple Watch as well as the Apple TV. While many believe that Apple is hoping to host the event at the new Steve Jobs Theatre at the new Apple Park headquarters, Apple may opt to use the San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium where it launched the iPhone 7 last year.

2017 is the 10th year anniversary of the iPhone, Apple's most profitable product and the lynchpin of the companys multitude of ecosystems which range from apps, streaming music, wearables, fitness, car infotainment, home speakers and set-top boxes.

March 15 being eyed for next Apple Launch Event

Tuesday March 15 is likely the date for this year's first Apple Launch Event that will likely focus on three product releases. A new 4-inch iPhone, the iPad Air 3 and more Apple Watch accessory bands are expected to be among the products that will be unveiled by Apple.

Apple is expected to diversify its iPhone portfolio with an updated 4-inch model that could be considered an entry-level or more affordable option for users coming from iPhone 4S or iPhone 5/5S/5C models. While the 4.7-inch iPhone 6S and 5.5-inch iPhone 6S Plus are widely popular, there are still over 60 per cent of iOS users who have not updated to the newer form factors and the larger size may be what is holding them back.

A new iPad Air is definitely in the books and expected to possibly bring some, if not most of the iPad Pro's marquee features. Having a smaller tablet that can take accessory keyboards via a Smart Connector plus Apple Pencil input, will certainly push various iPad and iPad Air users to consider upgrading, specially if a new iPad will feature the latest A9X processor. Apple Watch isn't expected to see a refresh until maybe later this year, but this doesn't mean that Apple won't release more accessory bands or introduce new collaborations with other fashion houses like it did with the Hermes Edition Watch.
