SlideShow: Highlights from the 'Hey Siri,' Apple Event

Text and photos by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

San Francisco: In terms of coverage, scale, and number and variety of announcements, yesterday's two-hour "Hey Siri" Apple Special Event in San Francisco was unprecedented.

Cramming in enough product and feature announcements for two events, we saw new iPhone 6s smartphones, a larger iPad Pro, some sexy new Apple Watch editions and bands, plus a whole new Apple TV powered by apps and Siri voice control.

To top it all, we got to see Apple CEO Tim Cook's favourite band OneRepublic take to the stage for a surprise set of their well-loved hits. All-in-all, one of the most memorable Apple Events yet.

Apple’s September 9 launch will be the first event Windows users can live stream

The upcoming Apple event will be the first time Windows users will be able to officially live stream an Apple presentation. You can see it on the fine print of the launch site. This time though the Windows 10 built-in Microsoft Edge browser has software that supports the same HTTP Live Streaming technology found in Apple software like Safari and QuickTime. Usually, only people using OS X, iOS, or an Apple TV device could do so. Some used workarounds through software like VLC.

Apple Store is down in preparation for today's special event

Apple's Online Store is currently down in advance of Apple's announcement today. Usually a sign that announced products are available for preorder or purchase at the end of the announcement. Expected today is a refresh of the iPad line with thinner models, the addition of Touch ID fingerprint sensors, new A8 processors as well as updated iOS 8 software. Also widely expected are new iMacs possibly with Retina Displays as well as maybe new Thunderbold displays and Mac minis, two product lines that Apple has left untouched for a long time.
