Apple tipped to bring Mini LED screen to the 11-inch iPad Pro

Photo by David Švihovec on Unsplash

When Apple launched the new Apple iPad Pro, it only brought its Mini LED screen to the 12.9-inch model. But according to analyst Ming-chi Kuo, the company plans to introduce the display to the 11-inch model next year. This screen technology uses thousands of tiny LEDs to create focused local dimming zones. The effect is you get better contrast and HDR performance.

On top of the iPads, Apple reportedly plans to bring this display tech to the MacBook series. The 14- and 16-inch models will reportedly go into production this quarter, while a redesigned MacBook Air with Mini LED screens is coming in 2022. Of course, all of this now is just speculation, and Kuo has previously claimed that cheaper iPad models are getting OLED panels.

Report: Apple works on iPhone 12 MagSafe Battery Pack

There may or may not be a magnetic battery back for the iPhone 12 in the works. A new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says Apple has been developing a MagSafe Battery Pack attachment for its latest flagship for at least a year. It will supposedly attach to the MagSafe system at the back of the iPhone 12. And according to an unnamed source, some of the prototypes feature a white rubber exterior. Unlike previous iPhone battery packs, this won't serve as a protective case.

The company has reportedly tested to ensure the battery pack's magnetic system firmly attaches to the phone's back. Some MagSafe users have criticized the strength of the magnets Apple has used in the phone as it can't seem to keep MagSafe accessories adhered to it.

Apple might add an optical in-display fingerprint sensor to next iPhone

The rumours that Apple is considering using an in-screen fingerprint sensor isn't new. And now, we hear whispers once again. This time The Wall Street Journal's Joanna Stern reports that the next-generation of iPhones (possibly named the iPhone 13) will get an in-display Touch ID option.

This feature will definitely come in handy, seeing as using Face ID in public is difficult these days because we need to wear face masks.
