CES 2013: ASUS yields new crop of Windows 8 notebooks and desktops

Few manufacturers have embraced Windows 8 and all its varied permutations as fondly as ASUS which already had a heady selection of PCs prior to CES 2013.

The ASUS bonanza continued today with a deluge of notable product releases including a a GoogleTV, interesting new Transformer and VivoTab models and a new pair of dual-screen TAICHI convertible Ultrabooks in 11.6" and 13.3" sizes. Hit jump for all the juicy ASUS updates

The Apple Beat: iPad mini will likely succeed by creating its own niche


Amazon's getting twitchy about the iPad mini. It ran this comparison on its websiteBy Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Apple did not create the iPad mini to battle Amazon's Kindle or even Google's Nexus 7, at least not in price. The new 7.9-inch tablet, which shares a lot of the specs of the iPad 2, is likely going to create its own niche while diversifying the iPad's existing user base.

Nexus Tablet photos leak ahead of Google I/O

Could this be the upcoming Google Nexus Tablet expected to debut at Google I/O this week?  As a report posted on Gizmodo Australia states, "the Nexus 7 tablet will feature a 1.3Ghz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, a GeForce 12-core GPU, a 7-inch display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and 1GB of RAM. The ASUS-built device will apparently be available in two different models that vary by storage capacity — an 8GB version will launch for $199 and a 16GB model will cost $249."

Google I/O, which takes place June 27-29 in San Francisco and is the developer event for all things Google. Stay tuned for our remote liveblog here of the event and the corresponding announcements. Products released in previous Google I/O's include the Nexus smartphones, GoogleTV and the Google Chromebook.

ASUS Transformer Book is world's first convertible Windows 8 Tablet

Following up its sucessful ASUS Transformer Prime tablet that can quickly convert into a ntoebook with a QWERTY keyboard attachment, ASUS announced the Transformer Book  at Computex which offers the same versatility but for a Windows 8 slate.
