Review: BlackBerry Leap

The biggest feature of the BlackBerry Leap is its long-life battery. The 2800 mAh battery is rated to last for well over a day of heavy use and is the primary reason for the phone’s solid feel, weight and size. BlackBerry boasts that the Leap can last 25 hours on a full charge.

The past eight months have been a bountiful harvest for BlackBerry in terms of smartphone models. They introduced the BlackBerry Passport, the BlackBerry Classic and now they are pushing out the all-touch BlackBerry Leap as a midrange option.

Global rollout for BlackBerry Leap announced

Good news for anyone waiting for the BlackBerry Leap. The latest 5-inch device designed for startups and entrepreneurs needing powerful messaging and an indefatigable all-day battery has been announced in a global rollout that includes Canada.

Interested buyers can shop for BlackBerry Leap on ShopBlackBerry.com and through select carriers and partners. BlackBerry Leap will continue to rollout over the next few weeks across countries including Germany, France, United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and India.

BlackBerry Leap apps and features demoed in video

BlackBerry has produced a brief video showing the upcoming BlackBerry Leap as well as some of its features and apps on the new smartphone's 5-inch HD display. The BlackBerry Leap has been available for pre-registration and is coming to US and European markets this month. Canadian customers will have to 'stay tuned' for specific information but we've been told that we shouldn't have to wait long to see this new handset being offered by carriers. BlackBerry Leap is expected to cost CAD $349 without contract if bought directly from ShopBlackBerry.

BlackBerry Care Protection Plan is a new affordable hardware protection plan offering extended coverage, including accidental damage from handling, on the BlackBerry Leap, BlackBerry Classic and BlackBerry Passport for customers in North America.
