Mudra Band allows you to use the Apple Watch without tapping the screen

Touchscreens are accessible to a lot of people, but not to all. Those who suffer from physical and cognitive disabilities might even find these displays tough to use. And that's who Mudra Band hopes to help. This CES 2021 Innovation Award honoree uses the Mudra Band with the Apple Watch. It has a sensor that detects electrical signals sent by your brain to your fingers. Its deep-learning algorithm analyzes those impulses and maps them to a corresponding finger movement. Using Bluetooth LE, it then sends that information to your Apple Watch.

Samsung Frame TV can now rotate between portrait and landscape modes

This isn't the first time Samsung has introduced its picture frame-like The Frame televisions, nor is it the first time for the company to offer a rotating television. Remember its Sero TV back in 2019 (a.k.a. a different lifetime ago)? Samsung is combining that tech for its new variant of The Frame. This option will only be available in the new 43-inch model, where you can choose to rotate it in landscape or portrait mode. Those who want to turn their TV into a high-tech frame for their portrait artwork might appreciate this television.

Other improvements for the new Frame TV models include a thinner product, at just 24.9 millimetres thick. It also promises better AI art recommendations through Samsung's Art Store and more bezel options to suit discerning tastes. It will also support features like Google Duo and Screen Mirroring, Remote Access Plus, and Multi-View. We don't have the updated pricing or availability yet, but that should come in the spring.

Harman's new audio tech is meant for in-car concerts

Live shows have ground to a halt because of the COVID-19 pandemic. A way that musicians are trying to earn some revenue during this time is by hosting live streams or socially-distanced, drive-in shows. Samsung subsidiary Harman takes advantage of the situation and has developed new in-car audio technology to improve these live show experiences. Aptly called the Live Interactive Virtual Experience (L.I.V.E.) platform, Harman claims it can bring "remote and socially distant concertgoers the ability to directly interact with the venue, the artist and the music," whether from their cars or their homes.

It has a two-way setup that can even let fans "cheer, make song requests, vote for the next song played, or request that a specific instrument be featured in the next solo," so the interactive experience of live shows is still somewhat intact. Performers can respond accordingly as there is a "fan space" hub that can give them a sense of the "energy, enthusiasm and applause from fans directly to the artist via in-venue screens and lighting elements."

LG's new vacuum cleaner automatically empties dustbin while it charges

Emptying a vacuum cleaner is admittedly a messy affair, but LG might have a solution for that. Its new CordZero ThinQ A9 Kompressor+ vacuum cleaner empties the dustbin for you. When you place it on its charging station, it will drain its content into an attached bag. The vacuum comes with a mop attachment, washable filters, and two "quick-change" batteries when you need to clean but don't want to wait for the charging station to top it up.

LG hasn't revealed pricing and availability yet, but the existing A9 Kompressor vacuum goes for US$799 (CA$1,016), so expect this appliance to have a premium price, too.
