BMW teases its Vision M Next concept car

This teaser though doesn’t show much of the concept. But we know that the BMW Vision M Next concept is coming, and it’ll be showing off what’s possible for the M-series cars. While BMW’s Vision iNEXT concept focuses on how tech can offer a better, more luxurious autonomous ride, the Vision M Next’s focus is on improving “driving pleasure.” It’s all about enhancing the experience of driving manual vehicles. The attention will probably be on advanced performance driving assists and perhaps improvements on the electric and gas motors.

BMW will be holding a presentation about this concept car this month. It must be remembered that these concept cars will most likely not make it to the market in its current form, but it does show off technologies that we might see in future vehicles.

Volkswagen calls its full-size electric SUV concept the ID ROOMZZ, because why not?

Volkswagen is going to be showing off its new electric car concept at the Shanghai Motor Show. And we’re sure you’ll remember it for its name. The car maker teased its sixth all-electric car and they’re calling this full-size electric SUV concept the ID ROOMZZ (yes, with two zeds). It’s in good (?) company when it comes to interesting names. The ID ROOMZZ follows the ID, ID Crozz, ID Buzz, ID Vizzion, and ID Buggy. Clearly, someone at VW loves to press the “z” key when they think up names for its all-electric concepts.

The name refers to the new seat configuration in this vehicle. According to VW’s Chief Designer Klaus Bischoff, “The ID ROOMZZ shows us what we can expect from full-size electric SUVs in the future.” The ID ROOMZZ offers case level 4 autonomy, which means it can drive itself “without an active driver.” It’ll also reportedly deliver “high-quality materials” and “customizable light.” A production-ready version is expected to debut in China by 2021.

CES 2019: Hyundai’s concept car is made for walking

And that’s just what it will do, if Hyundai does make this concept into a reality (at the moment it’s just been done at 1/8th of its scale), that is. Hyundai’s Elevate concept fits right into our image of living on Mars, a Boston Dynamics-like robot that can drive and walk you with its bendable legs. What a strange concept. But Hyundai’s idea is that it can be used to navigate difficult terrain, which could help everyone out from first responders to the military. Space exploration is something the automaker is also considering. The Hyundai Elvate is called an “Ultimate Mobility Vehicle.” Hyundai plans for it to be electric-powered and modular so vehicle bodies can be swapped depending on user’s requirements. As you see in the video above, it has for “legs” with each of these having a series of joints, allowing the vehicle to mimic both reptilian and mammalian walking gaits. It’s a strange, slightly creepy concept we’re still dying to see actually happen.
