Video: Demo of the Apple iPhone 5s

iPhone 5s was unveiled today in Cupertino and is Apple's new flagship smartphone. Featuring an all-new A7 chip, it is the world’s first smartphone with 64-bit desktop-class architecture. New features include an all-new 8 megapixel iSight camera with True Tone flash, and  security from a new embedded Touch ID, an innovative way to simply and securely unlock your phone with just the touch of a finger.

“iPhone 5s is the most forward-thinking smartphone in the world, delivering desktop class architecture in the palm of your hand,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPhone 5s sets a new standard for smartphones. Packed into its beautiful and refined design are breakthrough features that really matter to people, like Touch ID, a simple and secure way to unlock your phone with just a touch of your finger."

Live at the Apple Campus in Cupertino

Cupertino, CA: We're up bright and early in Cupertino where Apple's headquarters, also known by fans as The Mothership, will play host to media for today's special event. The "This Should Brighten Everyone's Day, event keynote, which begins in a few hours at 10:00 AM Pacific Time, will be held in the auditorium here on campus. It is interesting to note that products that were launched here include the iPod, the iPod Hi-Fi as well as the iPhone 4S.

The Apple Beat: Stage is set for next evolutionary phase for iPhone and iOS

Any Apple launch event easily obscures the majority of technology launch events happening at the same time. Events focused on a new iPhone are easily the most anticipated and widely covered.

How crazy does it get? While watching the local news on CP24 this morning, the hosts were discussing the invitations sent by Apple to select media for the upcoming September 10 launch to be held in Cupertino. Most smartphone launch events will never gain mention in a morning news show, but an Apple invitation to an upcoming event is big enough news.

First Impressions of the iPad mini

The iPad mini represents a departure from the 9.7-inch tablet market that Apple has defined and dominated. The iPad mini is entering a scattershot mini-tablet market ranging with expensive $500 7-inch Android tablets at one end and cheap $199 eReader at the bottom. But the Fun-Size iPad is clearly in a league of its own as a smaller yet full featured tablet. Here are my very early impressions.
