A two-part ‘Supergirl’ and ‘The Flash’ musical crossover episode is coming

The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up again. This time, it’ll be for a two-part musical episode. Yes, a musical. Since Supergirl moved from CBS to CW, it’s expected that the DC adaptations, including The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow, will be working alongside its newest sister. In fact, they do have a big crossover in the works. But that’s for another time. Right, now we’re getting that two-part musical.

It doesn’t come as a surprise they’re trying this route since a lot of the actors on Supergirl and The Flash have musical backgrounds. Yes, that includes both shows lead actors Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin. Both of them have appeared on Glee. Jesse L. Martin (Joe West on The Flash) originated the role of Tom Collins in Rent on Broadway. Jeremy Jordan (Winn on Super girl) has also appeared on the Broadway production of Newsies. According to Greg Berlanti, the executive producer of all DC shows on CW, the songs will mostly be “preexisting songs” but they are working to include at least one original track per episode. Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour, Berlanti says these episodes are likely to air sometime in the “back half of the year.”

DC heightens our expectations with new ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Justice League’ trailers

DC looks like they’re taking themselves a lot less seriously while packing in  all that action with the new look at Wonder Woman and the Justice League. For me, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was the best thing about Batman v. Superman so seeing her kick ass in her own film is a delight to see. It’s especially amazing, and definitely long overdue, that we get a female superhero lead. We just have to wait until June 2017 finally see if the film is just as amazing as the trailer.

Ben Affleck set to direct a standalone Batman film

Ben Affleck’s days as Gotham’s Dark Knight aren’t over yet. In fact, he’ll even be working behind the scenes for it. WB Chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara confirmed during a CinemaCon panel held in Las Vegas on Tuesday that they will be working with Affleck on a standalone movie for Batman, which he will both star in and direct. Rumours started in July that the actor/director was working with DC’s Geoff Johns, who oversees most of the company’s materials including movies and TV shows. They haven’t released any specific detail yet on when this solo Affleck/Batman film is happening but we should be hearing more about it soon.

Here’s a glimpse of the ‘Batman v. Superman’ flick

Finally, we’re able to see what’s in store for us in the DC Universe with the first trailer of Batman v. Superman film. Of course, it looks epic from the get-go. The Zack Snyder-led film shows us what happened after Superman took on General Zod and its effect on Metropolis and Gotham City. We see that Bruce Wayne was in Metropolis when the big battle happened. And that seemed to serve as a catalyst for him to become Batman and put a stop to Superman. Also, we see Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot getting to don the Wonder Woman suit.
