Young phenom JD McCrary joins first Apple scripted TV show ‘Vital Signs’

We’ve heard a while back that Apple’s first entry into scripted television programming is a Dr. Dre-lead show called Vital Signs. It’s said to be a six-episode series that is rumoured to be debuting in September—although Apple won’t confirm the release date. What we have found out that one of the episodes called Innocence will feature a 9-year-old singer/actor/dancer named JD McCrary. He’s been on different talent shows and has made a name for himself as someone who’s evocative of the late Michael Jackson. It’s been confirmed that he’s part of the show along with Dr. Dre, Sam Rockwell, and Ian McShane.

The show is described to be a semi-biographical drama. And each episode is rumoured to be focusing on a specific emotion. Perhaps, he’ll play a young Dr. Dre. We can’t say yet. But we’re bound to find out soon enough.

Dr. Dre might be going the R-rated route for Apple’s first original TV series

As you know, Dr. Dre joined Apple in 2014 when the company bought Beats back then. It seems he’ll be taking charge of the new and first Apple-produced TV series. Supposedly called “Vital Signs,” the semiautobiographical series will have six episodes and will supposedly include tons of sex and violence, including an extended orgy scene. This seems unlike what Apple is putting out with its rigidly define moral principles and its refusal to put pornography on the App Store. But if that is what gets them head-to-head with other big tech players like Amazon and Netflix, whose original content have been garnering them attention and awards, we’re not surprised if they take this route.

The show will supposedly be distributed through Apple Music and it isn’t clear if other Apple products and platforms will be tapped. Perhaps that oft-rumoured television service might be making its appearance? We can’t say until Apple confirms the existence of the show, which they aren’t commenting on at the moment.

Dr. Dre to drop new album after 15 years, will be exclusive to Apple

'

Dr. Dre joined Apple when Beats was bought by the Cupertino-based tech giant. So it comes as no surprise that Dr. Dre will be creating exclusives for the company. The hip-hop mogul announced on his Beats 1 radio show "The Pharmacy," that he’ll be dropping his first new album in 15 years entitled “Compton A Soundtrack.” He describes it as his “grand finale” on Twitter so we speculate it’s his last major album, but then again we can be wrong. The album comes out just in time for the release of the "Straight Outta Compton,"movie which chronicles Dr. Dre and rapper Ice Cube's meteoric rise as rap's supergroup N.W.A.

The album is already available for preorder on iTunes and will drop on August 7th. It’ll also be up for streaming on Apple Music. As mentioned in the title, this’ll be an Apple-exclusive release.
