EA to shut down servers for 'Crysis 3,' 'Dante’s Inferno,' and 'Dead Space 2' in 2023

EA has revealed the next batch of games that will lose their online functionality. According to EA’s Online Services Shutdown support page, the publisher will end the server support for Crysis 3Dante’s Inferno, and Dead Space in 2023. Crysis 3’s servers will go offline on September 7, while Dante’s Inferno and Dead Space 2 will follow suit on December 8.

Crysis 3 was remastered by EA in 2021, along with Crysis and Crysis 2. However, none of the games in the Crysis remastered trilogy have online multiplayer modes. Although Crytek announced in 2022 that it was working on Crysis 4, there has been little news about the next entry in this long-dormant franchise.

Crysis 3Dante’s Inferno, and Dead Space 2 are not the only games EA is cutting off from online services in 2023. You can check out more titles here.

EA drops new 'Immortals of Aveum' trailer

EA recently released a new trailer for Immortals of Aveum. The game is described as a single-player "first-person magic shooter," which it is publishing under its EA Originals label. Ascendant Studios is developing the title, which will come to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the PC on July 20th.

EA and Ascendant describe the game as: "Players experience this visceral and cinematic, story-driven game through the eyes of Jak, as he joins an elite order of battlemages, masters all three colors of magic - blue, green, and red - and decimates legions of enemies with clever chained attacks and well-timed counters. Combining a modern story within a fantasy setting, the world ofAveum is filled with unforgettable characters, fast-paced action and spell-based combat that defies FPS conventions."

EA's new PC app replaces Origin platform

Source: EA

EA is replacing its Origin app with one bearing its name. This move was announced about two years ago, and we're now seeing it take effect. The new app is expected to offer a "faster, more reliable, and more streamlined gaming experience." It gets features like automatic game downloads and background updates.

PC gamers still using Origin will "soon" get an invite to switch over. And EA says when you receive it, your games, content, saves, and friend list will be available in the EA app. If you don't want to wait for the invite, you can download the app from EA's website. Meanwhile, macOS players will still use the Origin app for now. EA hasn't shared a timeline for when the app will be available for them.
