Gmail bids old full-screen compose window goodbye

Whether you like it or not, the new compose window for Gmail is here to stay. Google announced in a Google+ post that the compose window is finally rolling out to everyone and the old full-screen compose window is out the door (or should it be out the window?).

But you can still get the full-screen experience when writing your emails. You just need to click on the expand button at the top right of the new compose window and set that as default by clicking “Default to full-screen” in the More options menu at the bottom right corner of the window.

Mailbox introduces new features

Mailbox brings new functionalities to the sleek iOS email app including the ability to send messages from any email address registered with Gmail and the ability to use the app in landscape mode when you are on your iPhone.

Adding files from Dropbox has also been made easier. Smart snoozes of email has also been adjusted to your local time. And if you have a full arsenal of Apple devices, you can use Mailbox on all of them.

Yahoo! shutting down Mail Classic this week

 

Starting tomorrow, June 3, Yahoo! is discontinuing its Mail Classic and at the same time forcing Mail users to accept the Communications Terms of Service and Privacy Policy of the new version that allows the company to scan your emails to “deliver product features, relevant advertising, and abuse protection.” 

While you can opt out of the targeted ads, you won’t be free from the scanning. Yahoo! says you can use a desktop email client but need to agree with their terms or ditch Yahoo! Mail altogether. You can read up about these changes over here.

Check if your Yahoo! email account has been hacked

We really should have learned by now. Using web-based email is convenient, easy and free but it is also risky. Yahoo! Mail got hacked a few days ago and the accounts of over 450,000 accounts were compromised. These accounts (and their log in credentials, i.e. passwords, were also published online.
