New tech introduced for the Ford Police Interceptor

New surveillance mode technology integrated into the Ford Police Interceptor is helping keep law enforcement officers safe. It makes use of existing Ford driver-assist technologies, such as a backup camera, cross-traffic alert, and reverse park assist, to provide cops with additional situational awareness and act as the first line of defense against possible assailants.

Ford pushes sustainability with recycled materials in its cars

Ford is taking its eco-initiative global with the 2013 Fusion models that come with car seat fabrics made out of recycled materials. The 2008 Escape Hybrid was the first Ford model to features seats made out of recycled yarn and now there are a number of Fusion models sold in North America and Mondeo Ambiente models sold in Asia Pacific that feature this eco-friendly material.

Ford makes use of a total of 41 fabrics from different suppliers with varying patterns, purpose, and level of recycled content across its 15 vehicle programs. There is a complete infographic on the subject that you can access here

Motoring: Toyota and Ford to collaborate on hybrid pick-ups and SUVs

Motoring: Ford posts best annual profit in 10 years

Ford Motor Co. announced today that they  had the best annual profit in 10 years. Ford earned $6.6 billion, or a $1.66 share, in 2010. That compared to a profit of $2.7 billion, or 86 cents a share, in 2009. Revenue rose 4% to $120.9 billion.

"Our 2010 results exceeded our expectations, accelerating our transition from fixing the business fundamentals to delivering profitable growth for all," said Alan Mulally, Ford's chief executive. "We are investing in an unprecedented amount of products, technology and growth in all regions of the world."

The secret to their success? Cost-cutting, a truly compelling stable of new vehicles and innovation in all areas.
