Google adds Hangouts plugin to Microsoft Outlook

Google is making it easier for office workers to start Hangouts session at work with its new plugin. The Hangouts plugin is designed to let you start or join Hangouts sessions directly in Microsoft Outlook’s mail or calendar functionality. The condition is you would need to have a Google Apps account.

You will need to download and install the Hangouts Plugin. After installing you will then see an icon that lets you schedule a new Hangout or join an existing one. You can find out more information here.

Google Hangouts update creates single thread for text messages and chats from same sender

Google updated its Hangouts app to consolidate your text and chat messages from the same sender into a single thread. Just in case you get confused about what kind of message your contact sent you, Google has color-coded the messages. You can also reply using either method and separate the messages as well. Google has also split your Hangouts and phone contacts list to make it easier to search through them. The company has also updated video call quality and the home screen widget.

Coachella livestreams festival on YouTube, adds Hangouts video chat with artists 

Fan of the acts appearing at this year’s Coachella festival but can’t be there in person? Google and T-Mobile are livestreaming the event on YouTube right now. And if you’re online at the right time and are on Hangouts, you might even get to chat with artists like Zedd and Chvrches. You can check out the livestream link here. Google Hangouts updates app to improve SMS capabilities

Google Hangouts improved the kinks of the SMS integration with a new update for Android devices. The app now has the ability to disable the ability that converts group messages into MMS by default. You can also import your current SMS messages into the app. There have also been some APN tweaks added for those with unlocked smartphones.
