Microsoft to launch Outlook Lite Android app this month

Source: Microsoft

Microsoft is bringing a smaller, faster Outlook app to Android soon. The Outlook Lite app promises a "smaller app size with fast performance for low-end devices on any network." According to Microsoft 365's roadmap, it's expected to be rolled out worldwide sometime this month. It seems to be available in some countries, so the company might be prepping for a broader release now.

According to Microsoft's documentation, the app will most likely be only limited to Outlook, Hotmail, Live, and MSN accounts. It won't support school or work accounts.

Outlook for iOS now has an 'Ignore Conversation' option

Microsoft Outlook is bringing its "Ignore Conversation" feature to both its iPhone and iPad apps, helping those who want to mute and remove irrelevant email threads from their inboxes. Desktop users of Outlook are familiar with this feature, and now if you're on iOS, you gain access to this, too. Microsoft seems to be rolling this out bit by bit, so just be patient if it hasn't made its way to you yet. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available for Android users right now.

Microsoft Outlook on iOS now lets you edit your contacts

It might be considered a fundamental feature but until today the Microsoft Outlook app for iOS and Android couldn’t add or edit contacts. You’d need to be on the web browser or PC to do that. Finally, Microsoft updates its iOS app to let you add and edit Outlook.com and Office 365 contacts in the app (Android and Google contacts support to follow soon). You just need to head to the People section of the app to add details of certain contacts or include people from events, messages, and company directory. Outlook will let you save contacts to your phone’s native list, too. Microsoft also revamped the look of the contact cards. They now show key details like email addresses and phone numbers as well as recent conversations and meeting.

Microsoft previews Outlook for Mac with Google Calendar and Contacts

Microsoft is bringing to more users the ability to use Google Calendar and Contacts on Outlook for Mac 2016. Initially launched to Office Insider Fast community, the features are now available for anyone to download so they get more feedback about the new additions. This will then allow Outlook for Mac users to add, edit, and delete events from Google Calendar through the Apple app. Gmail users will also get Focused Inbox feature in Outlook as well as package delivery tracking and travel booking. If you’re a regular Office 365 user, though, you’ll have to wait until later in the year to try this out.
