Change to come for Google Play Store for Android tablets

Google will be revamping its Play Store for tablet users starting November 21. Tablet owners will first see “Designed for tablets” apps when they browse the top lists on their devices and those apps and games that do not meet this criteria will be labeled as “Designed for phones.”

Google is announcing this change a few weeks in advance to give developers a chance to optimize their apps for tablets. If you’re an Android developer, you can check the Tablet App Quality Checklist to see if you meet the criteria.

Nexus 7 (2013) now available on Canadian Play Store

As promised, the Nexus 7 (2013) is now available on the Canadian Google Play Store. $229.99 for the 16GB version and $269.99 for the 32GB version. The store is also selling a Nexus 7 Sleeve for $29.99. Google has also discontinued the older Nexus 7 altogether.

Google revamps Web version of Play Store

Google borrows the design of the Android version of the Play Store and carries it over to the Web. The new look makes it easier to navigate through the app store with bigger screenshots and icons as well as the easy to scroll through navigation panel on the left side.
