Microsoft Ventures launches Innovation Circle to drive Canadian productivity and innovation

Microsoft Ventures and their partners at MaRS Discovery District hosted the Microsoft Ventures Innovator’s Circle. The Innovator’s Circle is a collaborative peer advisory session where Microsoft will pair industry experts with some of Canada’s most promising medical and healthcare startups to discuss their business plans, barriers to success and solutions to overcome those barriers and how the startups can get their apps to market at home and abroad.

IBM 5 in 5 predicts online digital guardian, personalized education

IBM released its new list of innovations or the “IBM 5 in 5” that might affect how you conduct your lives in the coming five years.

One such innovation is the presence of an online digital protector designed to be more contextual and agile. It will make use of historical and situational information to verify your identity over the multiple devices you use.

Another innovation for the next half decade would involve personalized education. The school or classroom will analyze your “longitudinal data” (test scores, behavior, attendance) over e-learning platforms in order to determine if you face any issues or challenges that prevent you from excelling at school.

Video: CNN feature on Raspberry Pi

Titled "Credit Card computer Enhances Learning," this CNN feature looks at the amazing story of the Raspberry Pi, the tiny computer conceptualized to teach schoolchildren how to program but which has seen unbelievable demand in various countries and by everyone from geek hobbyists to users looking at a very versatile, low cost computer. I received my Raspberry Pi over the holidays and look forward to documenting my experiences with this cool and potentially game changing PC.
