Know when to drink water with the HidrateMe smart water bottle

Sometimes we need tech to remind us of our biological needs. That’s where products like the HidrateMe smart water bottle come in handy. This Kickstarter project is a Bluetooth-enabled bottle that glows when it wants to let you know it’s time to drink water. It’s smartphone app calculates how much water you need to be drinking based on certain personal details, such as weight, age, sex; environmental conditions, such as humidity, temperature, elevation; and if you link it to your fitness apps, your activity level. If you pledge US$45 you can get the HidrateMe Bottle in the color of your choice. The product is expected to ship December of this year.

Pre ordered Pebble Time smartwatches begin arriving

People who pre-ordered the new Pebble Time smartwatch on KickStarter are starting to receive their kickstarter edition watches in the mail, sometimes even before receiving a notification email and tracking number. The Pebble Time began shipping out the last week of May and once most KickStarter orders are fulfilled, the company will begin selling non KickStarter editions. The Pebble Time Steel is coming to market next month. Users on Android will be able to install and explore the device right away by downloading the new Pebble Time app. iOS users will have to wait for the app to be cleared at the iOS App Store. Stay tuned for a full review of the new Pebble Time and its corresponding OS once we get our KickStarter edition.

Shoot from the hip with COVR iPhone 6 case

Shooting from the hip takes on a new meaning with the COVR Photo Camera-Lens Case for iPhone 6 case. This accessory is a Kickstarter project for veteran photojournalist Thomas Hurst, who aims to help smartphone photographers take more candid, natural shots. Although, admittedly its design also makes it seem the perfect tool for taking more surreptitious shots. The COVR case comes with a high-quality prism lens that you slide over the camera. You can snap photos easily with your phone down, looking like you’re just tinkering with your phone.

COVR is aiming to raise US$25,000 on Kickstarter. A $55 pledge will get you cover for the iPhone 6 and $75 will get you the case as well as a portfolio print signed by Hurst.

Control your Android Wear or Pebble Time smartwatch with Aria clip-on

If you find your hands busy with other things or are just feeling a tad too lazy to swipe at your smartwatches’ screen, the Kickstarter project Aria is here to help. The clip-on accessory brings finger gesture functionality to your smartwatch. It clips to the underside of your Android Wear or Pebble Time watch and it’ll let you navigate these wearables with gestures like tapping, flicking your fingers, and opening and closing your hands. You can configure the gestures with the companion app.

Aria makes use of Bluetooth Low Energy and it doesn’t require a battery on its own. The Kickstarter campaign should be up in the coming weeks. It was built specifically for Android developers so it’ll retail for US$169, while the Pebble Time version will only need you to pledge at least $69.
