VIZ Media manga makes its way to Kobo

Fans of Japanese manga (graphic novels) like Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach are in for a treat. VIZ Media is bringing those and its massive digital manga library to Kobo, which can be accessed on Kobo’s eBookstore and be read on Kobo eReaders or on the free Kobo app on iOS, BB10, and Android devices.

Over 500 volumes of 60 different series have been made available at the launch. This is on top of the full digital manga catalog that has reached over 1,500 volumes and 130 series. New series and volumes of popular VIZ Media manga will be added regularly on Tuesdays, including Shonen Jump, Shonen Jump Advanced, Shojo Beat, and Viz Signature. Review: Kobo Vox Android enabled eReader

A coloured eBook Reader with tablet aspirations. This is the Kobo Vox, the most ambitious device released by Toronto-based Kobo whose earlier eBook reader devices, the Kobo Wireless eReader and the outstanding Kobo eReader Touch Edition were superb examples of the company's focus on quality, social reading and innovation. There is a lot weighing on the Kobo Vox's  shoulders, it is the company's first coloured eReader and also the first one to run a scaled back version of Google's Android OS. Here's our review.

Kobo clarifies stake in Borders as bookseller shuts down


Kobo issued a release relating to the ongoing liquidation of bookseller Borders to clarify misconceptions about Kobo that have been inaccurately reported by the media and misunderstood by consumers.

Borders who is ceasing operations after letting go of 10,700 workers and shutting down 400 stores was an early investor in Toronto-based Kobo, Borders is expected to liquidate all remaining assets by September to pay off debt. Hit jump to see the full release.
