Samsung unpacks Galaxy S5, new Gear 2 and Fit wearables at MWC

Samsung continued its tradition of theatrical unveilings by kicking things off with 10 minute orchestra performance leading to the launch of their new Galaxy5 flagship.

The new smartphone has a large 5.1" AMOLED screen, features a new 16 megapixel camera with fast auto-focus, a fingerprint scanner on the display and is water resistant. It is expected to launch by April 11 in 150 countries. Samsung also unveiled the second generation of their smartwatch, the Gear 2 and Gear neo which offer three times the battery life of the original and can act as standalone music players. Along with the Gears, a new Fit device designed for health tracking was launched as well.

By leveraging near field communication (NFC) technology that's built into every BlackBerry 10 smartphone.

Moto X looking to make a splash in Europe

After launching its entry level Moto G globally late last year, Motorola seems to be poised to follow thi up in Europe with 'a new addition' to the European Motorola family of products. This is most likely their flagship Moto X, could be made available to European carriers. Hopefully with the Moto Maker customization option in tow and the latest version of Android KitKat oreinstalled. All will be revealed on January 14!

Rdio now streaming to 20 more countries

Rdio is expanding to 20 more countries across Europe and Latin America. Rdio has evolved to users discover, play and share over 20 million songs will now be available in 51 countries across six continents.

“We launched Rdio in two countries just over three years ago. Today, we’re proud to bring our latest groundbreaking music experience to customers in 51 different international markets,” said Anthony Bay, Rdio’s chief executive officer. “Instant access to over 20 million songs, weekly new albums including several exclusive artist releases, and over 400 genre radio stations is an incredible value that we are excited to share with music lovers around the world.”

Countries receiving Rdio service for the first time today include: Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Israel, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, South Africa, Uruguay, Venezuela.
