Google Stadia finally comes to newer LG TVs

It took almost a year, but Google Stadia is finally available in newer LG TVs. If you have an LG TV running on webOS 5.0 or 6.0 (which is 2020 or newer), you can use Google's cloud gaming service without using a media device or PC as a go-between. You will need a compatible gamepad, which can be a Stadia Controller or other standard console pads.

LG recommends you use it with one of its OLED TVs, citing fast response times, low latency, and 4K HDR visuals (at least for Stadia Pro users). But you can still use its other compatible televisions just fine. You can access Stadia through the LG Content Store in the 22 countries where the service exists.

TikTok brings its app to recent LG smart TVs

TikTok wants to reach a broader market and tap into higher advertising rates, at least that's what was reported before. So, it isn't surprising that the company is bringing its app to more TVs. This time, LG's 2020 and 2021 smart TVs running on webOS 5.0 and webOS 6.0 are getting the app now, while its 2019 models are expected to get it in the "coming months."

The app is launching in the UK, France, and Germany, where TikTok's already brought its app to Samsung TVs, Android TV, and Fire TV. We don't know how well received the app will be, given it's a portrait-oriented mobile app, for starters. But it's coming, whether you like it or not. Are you waiting for it to make its way here?

LG's 2021 TVs are getting Google Stadia

LG is making it easier for users to access Google Stadia. At CES, the company announced that some of its 2021 televisions would support Google Stadia right on its TVs that run LG's WebOS 6.0 software. Stadia support will arrive in the second half of the year. And LG plans to bring it to its WebOS 5.0 TVs "later this year," too. For its 2020 televisions, those are also getting Stadia "at a later time."
