LG will bring G7 One instead of V40 ThinQ to Canada

If you’ve been waiting for the V40 ThinQ to come to Canada, unfortunately, MobileSyrup confirmed the device won’t be making its way here. A spokesperson for the company said in an email, it’ll be bringing in the G7 One in its place. “Rather, LG Canada will be releasing Canada’s first premium Android One device, the LG G7 One. Recognizing Canadians’ desire for genuine Android experiences, the LG G7 One builds on the advanced LG G7 ThinQ foundation to deliver this to our consumers.” We’ve had some hands on time with the G7 One already, which you can read here.

LG officially launches V40 ThinQ, shows off its five-camera setup

Before you ask, LG hasn’t completely shared the specs of its newest flagship but it has teased a lot of the details when it announced the device in its home market. One of the most important things it shared is the five-camera setup on the V40 ThinQ. This doesn’t mean there are five cameras at the rear of the device. Instead, LG has a triple-lens camera at the rear and dual camera setup in front. No word yet what the specs of these cameras are. The phone itself features a glass-sandwich design with a sandblasted rear that gives off a “silky feel” but it has retained its strength and hardness similar to tempered glass, meaning it’ll be scratch-, fingerprint-, and dirt-resistant but still soft to the touch. The metal frame is “treated with glitter.”

The phone will be coming in three colors: Platinum Gray, Carmine Red, and Moroccan Blue. It’ll be the same size as the V30 but will have a 6.4-inch display thanks to its smaller bezel. And yes, it has a notch. LG has kept the rest of the spec sheet, but we’ll hear more when the phone officially launches next week.

LG set to launch V40 ThinQ on October 3rd

October is really turning into a month of big smartphone launches. LG is set to launch its newest flagship on October 3rd at an event in New York. The LG V40 ThinQ will then be making an appearance in Seoul the day after for a second launch. LG released a teaser video for the launch and it looks like there are hints of a triple camera system. It’s rumoured to pack in a regular 12MP f/1.5 unit with large 1.4µm pixels, an ultra-wide 16MP f/1.9 1.0µm shooter, and a 2x telephoto 12MP f/2.4 camera with 1.0µm sized-pixels. In the front it’s said to have an 8MP regular lens combined with a 5MP wide-angle lens.

Other rumoured specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB RAM, and up to 128GB for its internal storage. Its dimensions are said to measure 158.7 x 75.8 x 7.79mm combined with 169g weight. Battery seems to be paltry though when combined with the rumoured 6.4-inch QHD+ AMOLED display.
