‘Rogue One’ gets one more trailer ahead of impending release

The new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story reminds us to trust The Force. It also shows us a closer look at the battle between the Rebels and Imperials. We’ve seen some of the footage before but we also get to see a young Jyn Erso being told to trust The Force, K-2SO’s nonchalance, and blind warrior monk Chirrut Imwe’s second sight and how he uses it in battle—among other things.  Rogue One is set to hit theaters on December 16.

Donald Glover joins 2018 Han Solo movie as Lando Calrissian

Star Wars fans have been clamoring for Donald Glover to play Lando Calrissian that they even started a petition for it (and spawned that Photoshopped image above). That wish has been granted as the actor will play said role in the standalone Han Solo film. He will be playing alongside Alden Ehrenich, who inherited the Han Solo role from Harrison Ford. Not much is known about the film yet but Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be directing it. The role shows Glover playing the character in his “formative years as a scoundrel.”

Glover is known for his roles in Atlanta (which he created and starred in), Community, and The Martian. He also has a Grammy-nominated album entitled Because the Internet, which he performed under the name Childish Gambino.

Third ‘Star Wars’ trilogy is heading our way

We’re not just getting Episode VIII in 2017 and Episode IX in 2019. There is the upcoming Rogue One anthology film coming out this December. But aside from this Gareth Edwards-directed Star Wars film, there is also the standalone Han Solo film coming out in 2019. These two movies look like they’re part of the bigger plans Disney and Lucasfilm has for the Star Wars universe. Bob Iger, Disney’s chief executive, confirms at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference that a new anthology film is coming out by 2020, too. And that upcoming film will form a trilogy with Rogue One and the upcoming Han Solo movie with Alden Ehrenreich taking the titular role.

After that, we’re all kept in the dark with what’ll happen in the galaxy far, far away. But Iger has said he’s already in talks with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy on plans for the Star Wars beyond 2020.
