MacBook Pros with Retina Display get new processors, lower prices

Apple is making the MacBook Pro with Retina display faster and more affordable with updated processors and lower starting prices. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display now starts at $1,499 for 128GB of flash, and $1,699 for a new 2.6 GHz processor and 256GB of flash. The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display now features a faster 2.4 GHz quad-core processor, and the top-of-the-line 15-inch notebook comes with a new 2.7 GHz quad-core processor and 16GB of memory. Apple today also announced that the 13-inch MacBook Air with 256GB of flash has a new lower price of $1,399.

Apple Japan's "Lucky Bag" sale to surprise buyers on Jan 2

Lucky Bag photo from TheNextWeb.comHoliday shopping traditions vary the world over. In Canada we have Boxing Day on January 26th and in Japan they celebrate Lucky Bag sale on January 2nd. Apple is offering Lucky Bags for 33,000 Yen or around CAD $390. Shoppers will line up to buy surprise bags with accessories, special Apple t-shirts, possibly iPods, headphones and cases. Some very lucky shoppers will find iPads and even MacBook Airs in their loot bags which is a really cool way to start the new year. Apple will be having the Lucky Bag sale in 7 of its Japanese Retail Stores.

First Impressions of Google's ARM Chromebook

Google's first ARM powered Chromebook, made by Samsung, is an intriguing new take at the personal cloud-connected notebook. Selling for $249 and available only in the US through online resellers like Amazon.com, Google says this is the Chromebook for everyone. Here  are my first impressions.
