Apple testing out Night Shift mode on macOS

Having the option to change the color temperature of the screen is a helpful feature, especially when it comes to reducing eye strain when using phones or computers at night.  That’s why apps like F.lux are popular with users. Now, if you use a macOS machine, you’ll no longer need a third-party app to get this feature. Night mode, or Night Shift mode as it’s known on iOS, is coming to macOS Sierra. Apple is testing it out in the new beta version of the operating system. Like its iOS counterpart, it’ll automatically change to a warmer tone after you set a schedule for it to do so (for example, when sunset comes). It’ll also let you adjust the colors if they aren’t adjusted to your liking. Version 10.12.4 has the feature but it hasn’t been said when it’ll be rolled out to all users. Hopefully, it won’t take too long.

Apple macOS Sierra will prompt you to download

Slightly as aggressive as how Microsoft rolled out Windows 10, Apple will be reminding and triggering an automatic download of macOS Sierra for compatible Macs. The users who have automatic downloads turned on and have enough storage space to install the download will get the update sometime “over the next week.” The update won’t instantly download without your permission, though. You will have to start it on your own—just like how Windows 10 updates were released. And if you aren’t ready to upgrade yet, you can just delete the installer or disable automatic downloads from the App Store. Plus, the update won’t install and be deleted if the Mac is starting to run low on storage.

Apple releases another GM of macOS Sierra ahead of launch

There are usually only one gold master or GM released to developers before the final macOS is released. This time, though, Apple outed a second GM for macOS Sierra a few days before official release. The new build is labeled 16A323. One GM is usually released because it’s supposed to represent finished code. However, there are cases like these when companies spot bugs that need to be fixed as soon as possible. Sierra will be a free updae for Mac owners and will be bringing Siri and Apple Pay to the brand’s desktop OS.
