Netflix brings HDR support for 'Marco Polo'

Netflix is pushing TV technology to the max for its original shows. The streaming service giant is quietly updating its original series with high dynamic range streaming support starting with the first season of Marco Polo. This promises better contrast ratio and color accuracy. They plan to bring it soon to Daredevil, too. To access HDR content, you'll need to be subscribed to Netflix's most expensive tier, the $11.99 per month Ultra HD option, and an HDR-equipped TV.

Toronto-based designer and developer Matt Wiechec created the app with the game Marco Polo in mind—meaning you shout “Marco” and your phone will respond with “Polo.” Quite handy for those who perpetually lose their phone. There are 30 different voice options to choose from and you can customize the input phrase to whatever you want. The app is available worldwide on the iTunes store for US$0.99.
