Microsoft’s News Pro app focuses on your work

A new Microsoft Garage app for iOS and the web puts the focus on your career. The News Pro app is a delivery service with “hyper-relevant news for your work.” What it does is it pools together stories based on your work-related interests on Facebook or LinkedIn. According to 9to5Mac’s Greg Barbosa, the iOS app delivers stories on topics you may already be interested in. The example he gave was the news items he was able to get based on his interest in computer software. The Highlights section of the app gave him different stories on various software companies. The app’s Explore section takes categorizations to a granular level as it has subcategories you can explore based on more general topics, making it easier to find stories that you are interested in reading. The app comes with a Speedy View that mimics the Reader View of Safari. It’s available for free download if you want to try it out on iOS.

Microsoft indulges celeb crazy society with new Snipp3t app

If you’re the type who obsessively follows your favorite celebrities, Microsoft wants to make it easier for you to do so with the Snipp3t app. The free iOS app is like any other news reader except it focuses on celebrities. You just need to find the celeb you like and the app pulls from Bing search any news related to that artist. It also comes with the “Personalize with Facebook” option, which will then send you news on any of the celebs you’ve liked on the social network. If this is something you’d like to check out, you can download the app here.

Contain information overload with Erudito 1.0

You subscribe to tons of RSS feeds but are you able to read or at least scan through all that news? The Erudito 1.0 iPad app from Paris-based Kaeria EURL wants to help you out. This RSS news reader has been created with users who consume large amounts of news in mind. The app’s grid presentation provides a useful overview of headlines while lessening the need to flip or scroll through endless news pages. It also allows you to skip through categories using the magic toolbar.

Much like other news readers, you can import your feeds from the soon-to-be-retired Google Reader and send news items to Pocket, Readability, Facebook, among others. The app has free and paid versions (at $1.99) and you can find out more about the app on their site
