Nokia drops OVI Store brand

Nokia today announced in its blog that it is discontinuing the use of OVI as a brand to sell music, apps and games. According to the announcement, "Today, Nokia made a decision to change our service branding from Ovi to Nokia. The main reason for this change is so we can leverage the high-value of the Nokia master brand to better support future plans to deliver disruptive and compelling mobile experiences globally." Nokia states that nothing should change in the way users experience their services.

Ovi Suite 3 from Nokia released now with Ovi music

Nokia Beta Labs has showcased the latest iteration of its computer-to-phone software,Ovi Suite 3.0. The updated version of the program brings a rejuvenated user interface, focused on multimedia management and playback. Ovi Music, previously a separated player from the Ovi Suite, is now bundled in the suite itself, hopefully reducing not only performance issues, but also providing a better user experience.

Google Navigation now working on Canadian Android phones

Google has finally allowed their navigation function to work in Canada and 10 more countries. This makes your Android device (OS version 1.6 and higher only) a lot cooler and way more useful. After downloading some language packs, we briefly tested the Google Navigation on our Android 2.1 powered Motorola Milestone and it worked just as well and in some cases even better than our  standalone GPS.
