Philips Hue adds E14 white and colour ambiance candle bulbs

Philips Hue is continuing its dominance in smart lights and connected home products with smaller E14 candle bulbs for smaller lamps. These will be ideal for smaller lamps or bedside table lamps. These colour ambiance or white bulbs fit in nicely in Philips Hue households or offices who may have the larger lamps and bridge but are still stuck with traditional E14 bulbs on smaller lamps.

Philips says that the addition of the E14 fitting means that Hue is now compatible with 80% of light fixtures worldwide.

New Philips Ambiance Hue Lighting Set is HomeKit-compatible

Philips has announced a new set of HomeKit-compatible Hue-branded lighting products. What’s different this time around is that these Hue White Ambiance lights are geared towards people who want adjustable white lights and don’t need the varied color options. These Wi-Fi-connected bulbs promises to show “every shade of white light,” ranging from 6500k daylight to 2200k warm light. And like other Hue bulbs, these 800 lumens bulbs rated at 4000k can be adjusted throughout the day with varied light recipes, routines, and HomeKit scenes. And with HomeKit support, it responds to Siri voice commands, too.

The package comes with two Philips Hue white ambiance bulbs, a HomeKit-compatible bridge, and one wireless dimming switch that can be controlled from anywhere in the house even without the iPhone app. The entire kit retails in the US for US$129.95 (around CA$170), while each bulb costs US$29.95. You can check out Philips’s website for more details.

Philips Lifeline GoSafe helps keep seniors safe even while mobile

Just because one advances in age, it doesn’t mean you should stop interacting with the world and those around you. But some do fear getting into accidents while they are out and about doing different activities. This is where technologies like the Philips Lifeline GoSafe come in. It’s Royal Philips’ mobile medical alert service that makes use of up to six location technologies to make sure seniors are protected around the clock, no matter where they are in the country.

It has features like built-in AutoAlert fall detection technology that will instantly call for help the moment it detects a fall without the senior having to call on their own. It also makes use of an in-home communicator to optimize in-home performance. The GoSafe pendant can be worn at all times, even when charging, for continuous protection.
