Remove.bg makes quick work of removing backgrounds from images

By the power of AI, website Remove.bg does one job and does it kinda well. Sort of. If you need to quickly remove the background of an image, this single-purpose site can do it for you. You just need to upload the image you need to have the foreground be separated from background and then it’ll let you download a PNG version of the final product. No need to do anything. While the site claims it only works on people, it can separate other objects and the like as long as the subject is clearly in the foreground. It also isn’t perfect. It can sometimes be a bit confused with images where the background and foreground are a bit fuzzy—like that image of Elon Musk missing a bit of his eye. But again, if you need a quick fix and you aren’t so picky about the results, this might be a good site to keep in mind.

Get millions of filters for your Instagram needs with Infltr

Feel limited by the number of filters offered on Instagram? Then you should check out Infltr. The US$1.99 iOS app claims they offer 5.1 million different hues on its app. You won’t be tapping on presets to get through these colors. You’ll be swiping around an invisible color map to make edits to your shots. You can keep track of what you’ve applied as a small color bubble appears under your fingertip. You can also choose a color to apply before you capture an image to get the effect you want instantly.

Darkroom for iOS adds sharing ability for filters and better color altering tool

Photo editing app Darkroom adds more tools under its belt with its latest update. Version 2 of the app adds the ability for users to share custom filters on Instagram. The app shares this in a unique way though. When you post a photo on Instagram with a filter from Darkroom, others can take a screenshot of the photo. There will be an on-image QR code showing up there and that filter will then be made available to them.

The app’s color tool now also lets you choose specific color profiles in your photo as well as adjust hue, saturation, and luminance for each. Darkroom also now lets you favorite and delete photos while you edit, the save function will let you overwrite your existing photo with edited one. You can also now transfer edits from one photo to another. If you want access to the color tool and filter sharing though, you’ll need to make an in-app purchase to “Pro Mode.” That’ll set you back US$3.99.

Snapseed gets much-needed update

It's worrying when an app doesn't get an update for over two years, especially if the app is owned by Google. But it would seem the tech giant isn't giving the kiss of death to its photo editing app, Snapseed, just yet. The app receives a much needed update to put it at par with its many competitors. Some of the new tools include Tonal Contrast, Lens Blur, Intelligent Perspective Transform, and Spot Healing. One of the good things about Snapseed is you can select which parts of the photo you want filters to be applied, giving you more flexibility.

Making it more of a professional editing tool, the app also has a new Stacks feature. This allows you to undo any changes you have made or even re-edit those that have already been edited. You can also copy specific edits from one photo to another, making batch editing even easier. And another great thing? You get all of these for free.
