Twitter debuts new emojis for National Indigenous History Month and Pride Month

Graphic: Twitter

In honour of both National Indigenous History Month and Pride Month, Twitter Canada has a couple of new sets of emojis for you to use. This year marks the fifth consecutive year that Twitter has worked with an Indigenous artist to create a custom emoji for the month.

This year, Twitter Canada worked with Jaalen Edenshaw, Ts'aahl (Eagle) from Masset, Haida Gwaii, where he makes his home today. Jaalen's work is inspired by the old Haida stories, delving into the stories before he carves out the narrative. He and his brother co-founded K'alts'ida K'ah (Laughing Crow), a collective to tell Haida stories and promote the Haida language through art.

Xbox celebrates Pride Month

LGBTQIA+ players will soon be able to get a controller that more closely embodies their identity. Last year, Xbox produced a limited batch of Pride controllers and shared it with LGBTQIA+ players and creators around the world. Today, via Xbox Wire, Xbox announced a new, customizable Xbox Pride Controllerwhich brings together 34 community flags in a fine, interwoven manner to celebrate the intersectionality and strength of the many LGBTQIA+ communities. It will be available for purchase via the Xbox Design Lab starting June 9 and will be available year-round.

Waze lets you use Boy George's voice for Pride Month

If you've been looking through the voices you can use for navigation on Waze, then you might notice that Boy George has appeared as an option on the app for Pride Month. Aside from having the music and fashion icon help you navigate through traffic, Waze said he would "impart words of wisdom, like reminding you that life is about learning to be yourself."

You can also get the full Boy George experience with a choice of four moods or two cars. Plus, Boy George curated a special Pride playlist that you can stream through the Waze Audio Player. Each track he picked was selected to "celebrate acceptance, freedom of expression, and love," and they were selected following his golden rule: "Listen to the music you love; passion always eclipses what's fashionable."
