Android app Day by Day helps you achieve goals

If you subscribe to Jerry Seinfeld's Don't Break the Chain productivity method, this Android app might help you out. Called Day by Day, it helps you mark off each day you spend time working on a goal. The app can help remind you to do said activity per day and shows a check mark if you achieve it. If you don't, then you break the chain. The app lets you add to goals for free. If you want to add more, you need to pay US$1.50.

Track time you spend on apps on your Mac with Usage

With the year coming to a close, it makes some of us reflective about our actions—and that includes our digital activity. If you want to improve productivity or your effectivity when it comes to your work, time-tracking apps can help. There’s a simple and free app for the Mac that tracks how much time you spend using a particular app on your computer. Called Usage, it keeps tabs on your app usage by day and shows how much you spend in each app. If you’re expecting more from it, you might be disappointed, though. It’s not the kind of app that cuts off use if it thinks (or you set it to think) that you’ve spent way too much time on a particular program. But if simple activity tracking is what you need, Usage might be worth a look.

Get rid of all distractions on your Android device with ClearLock

Sometimes you just need to be intentional when it comes to “taking back your productivity.” So, having apps like ClearLock is sure to help you out a bit. This Android app can block any app you deem distracting for a set amount of time. When you first launch ClearLock, you’ll have to choose which apps to block and how long you want to block them. Once it is set, ClearLock will block any attempts for you to access it. The only way you can circumvent the block is force restarting your phone entirely. And wouldn’t that just be too troublesome if you just wanted to check if you have any new Facebook notifications?

Microsoft buys Wunderlist

Productivity software company Wunderlist just got acquired by Microsoft, according to Founder and CEO Christian Reber in a post on Wunderlist’s site. He didn’t specify how much it cost the Redmond-based tech giant to acquire their brand. It looks like things won’t be changing at the moment though. Reber said that their team in Berlin will continue to build Wunderlist, Wunderlist Pro, and Wunderlist for Business on platforms like iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Windows, and the web. He also promises that new features will be added in the future.
